The pandemic has thrown into high relief some of the longstanding issues surrounding working conditions in meatpacking facilities. John Oliver explains why greater oversight is needed, and how we can go about getting it.

Need to force all these politicians who don’t support workers rights to do a few weeks labor on the line in one of these meat packing plants.
John Pearson
Romans 3:23 states: "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;". We are all sinners, that have committed at least one sin in our lives, which earns us an eternal punishment in Hell. Revelation states 21:8 "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.". God sent his Son, Jesus, to Earth as a perfect sinless sacrifice. To take on all the sins of the world; both past, present, and future sins. Shedding his blood on the cross as a blood atonement for all sins. After dying on the cross, he rose from the dead on the 3rd day and rose to Heaven. To show life after death. To show everlasting life through Jesus's sacrifice. John 14:6 states: "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.". Romans 10:13 states "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.".
Eternal life in heaven is just one prayer away. All you have to do is believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died on the cross for your sins. As an atonement for your sins. And rose from the grave on the 3rd day. Ask Jesus to save you of your sins and give you eternal life in Heaven. Salvation is a free and everlasting gift from God. Please don't let pride drag you into eternal punishment in Hell, but ask Jesus to give you eternal life in Heaven. If you're getting a strong feeling of resistance while reading this, it's because Satan doesn't want you to get saved. He wants you to resist, and think it's not real. He wants you in Hell for all eternity with him. Hell is not a fun place, like worldly people like to imagine. It's everlasting torture with no relief. I'm only taking the time to text this, because I want to get the message out. There are so many distractions in life keeping people from witnessing to other people. Keeping you from thinking about salvation. Keeping you from thinking about life after death. Please, ask Jesus into your hearts to save you of your sins and cleanse you from all unrighteous. Ask him for a place in Heaven, and he will save you from eternal damnation in Hell.

Actually Americans would do this work and one hand and rely on the labor of keeping immigrants in a more social problems for and more massive immigration to the country if these companies were paying decent $25 an hour jobs and wages that they can easily afford but instead advertise and throw the money to Big media and the propaganda of it and a big globalists in the media such as is this owl faced hackass John Oliver know it and they benefit from it and this Arrangement as a HBO receives much of this media money that is diverted away from American workers and thought they are able to cut and imports poor peons from South of the Border who actually benefit themselves from the jobs and higher incomes than they would otherwise get if they remained in Mexico

It's very interesting, that meatpacking and generally butchering is often connected with awful working conditions - as if something is fucked up with the whole industry and pricing of meat. There have also been several cases of corona-related revelations of violations of work safety and health here in germany.
This shit needs to be unfucked :(

I work in food industry. Do you want your food to be cheap? Do you want them to be safe? Yes? The svaings have to come somewhere. Now you know who suffers for low prices. Automation would help but it will increase the cost, by quite a bit, which you consumers will complain and switch to competition. Food industry is really cut throat and margins are low. Just some perspectives.

This pandemic is showing a lot of Americans how little they matter in the corporate meat grinder. Shame how much nihilism there is among them.

The reason this pandemic happened by a zoonotic disease is due to eating animals. Why tf is anyone surprised why 'murdered sentient being packers' have the highest virulent rates and deaths?? The consumption of meat is absolutely unnecessary. Animal agra is devastating the environment, our healthcare system (due to all the ailment it causes), and yes its a f****** cruel and sadistic industry that lies to people and deceives the public with misinformation. One day these psychopathic CEO's will be on trial for not only for the pain and suffering of animals but now over exploiting their workers knowing their being sent to their deaths.*SEE THE PATTERN HERE??*

So much truth. 6.5 years working for Tyson and after reporting a deadly situation that was handled wrong by management 4 separate times in 2 weeks with me and other coworkers lives on the line I was fired, while looking for another job, I ran into a friend who I worked with at Tyson for at least 3 to 4 years was looking for a job. When I asked what happened they said they went to their own doctor because of extreme wrist pain that they've had for 9 months straight Tyson fired that person on the spot. So Tyson didn't have to pay for their carpal tunnel surgery. Also had another friend die after company doctor rushed them back to work after an on the job injury. Doc released them to return to work the next day, that night died from blood clot from the injury. This video bought up so many experience stories about my time there. Glad I got out even if it was thrown down a slide and the corporate investigation that was started fell apart after they got rid of me and Osha said I could no longer make a claim of unsafe work conditions because I was not currently employed . O memories.

At the onset of the pandemic, a plant in Columbus Junction, IA shut down after 17 people tested positive for COVID-19. The other workers were sent to Waterloo, IA so that they wouldn't loose hours.
Spoiler alert, they weren't healthy, and the Waterloo plant shut down soon after.

I'm down voting this video, not because I didn't like the video; but because YouTubes Auto Play "feature" either brought me here, despite the fact that I've turned it off over a dozen times now. Or, still hasn't been fixed. And I will keep doing this, until it's fixed; and I will keep posting this same message hoping the many YouTubers I watch will also complain to YouTube about this.
And I hope any who see this comment, will join me in doing this. Thanks in advance.

This kind of exploitation is also a good reason to tighten down on illegal immigration. I know it sounds fucked but hear me out. People who are here illegally deserve rights and deserve respect, as they are human beings. But being here illegally inherently makes them less likely to complain about mistreatment, and also makes them unable to really resort to any real legal recourse. Additionally, a constant flow of cheap(and easily frightened into compliance) labor allows these companies to get away with paying slave wages and maintaining horrible working conditions. Supply and demand. No matter how you dice it, its better for the immigrants themselves to come here legally. Closing off the border would be better for immigrants(Latino immigrants). It would lead to corporate pressure to reform immigration from these same corporations to restore the flow of cheap labor, while also ensuring that same labor was here legally and able to seek proper legal representation without fear of deportation. Call it "Malicious compliance" with the anti-immigration policies of the republicans.

I read a book while in jail for consuming, by choice, illegal chemicals like cocaine and heroin as opposed to the LEGAL chemicals in our air that I would rather NOT ingest like the mercury, formaldehyde, lead arsenic etc like we get from fossil fuels, and it was entitled "Fast Food Nation"..... other than the abhorrent things described by John here, this book pointed out that chicken feces were fed to cattle and cattle feces were fed to chickens that were being sold for human consumption......and people wonder why i go for that silly "free range" hoax food.
Matthew Klahn
My food processing job has changed their policy on sick days duriing this pandemic. They started penalizing us for taking them, while there is covid spreading through our plant. Oh yeah, and someone died last week. He was in his mid 40s. Left his wife and kid behind. Terrible.

I work in an industry that had to cut production due to covid. Our customers are super pissed about the lack of supply.
Imagine $10/pound prices for chicken that is rarely even available. How would the public react to that?
You can reduce production, sure, but people will have to eat less also.
Try telling people they can't eat because the producers can't produce. Let me know who that goes over.

How can a company tell a government agency in charge of workers safety to put a bag over their head to go through a factory? And why on earth would he agree to that? In ANY other first world country the factory would be shut down until a proper inspection was passed AND fined massively on top of that. This is absolutely absurd!

"within the capitalist system all methods for raising the social productiveness of labour are brought about at the cost of the individual labourer; all means for the development of production transform themselves into means of domination over, and exploitation of, the producers; they mutilate the labourer into a fragment of a man, degrade him to the level of an appendage of a machine, destroy every remnant of charm in his work and turn it into a hated toil"
